# Create a test account

> Make a test login with a $10,000 test balance. The password is shown once.

Scope: `create:test_accounts`, granted on request · MCP tool: `create_test_account`

Makes a separate CatchBack login, already confirmed and phone-verified, with a \$10,000 test balance that lasts 30 days. There's no body, and the key doesn't have to be linked to an account.

> A test account is a login, not a key. Sign in with it to use it: your API calls keep acting on your key's account and spending its real balance. [Testing](https://catchbackcards.mintlify.site/partner-api/testing.md) says what a test account can't do, and how to drive one through the API.

Each key can have 5 active test accounts at a time.

## Response

`201`, with:

**account** `object`

**user\_id** `string`

The account's id.

**email** `string`

The login: `<key name>-<8 hex digits>@test.catchbackcards.com`. It's a made-up address that nobody reads.

**password** `string`

Shown only in this response. We can't show it again or reset it, so keep it.

**username** `string | null`

**balance** `number`

The test balance in dollars, `10000`. It isn't money and can't be withdrawn.

**created\_at** `string`

**expires\_at** `string`

30 days after it was created.

**active** `boolean`

`true` on a new account.

**sign\_in** `object`

**sign\_in**

**web** `string`

The page to sign in on.

**note** `string`

How to sign in, for a person reading the response.

## Errors

| Status | When |
| - | - |
| `403` | The key lacks `create:test_accounts`, or it was turned off just then (`"This key is disabled"`) |
| `409` | The key already has 5 active test accounts. Reuse one, or [ask us](mailto:catchbackcards@gmail.com) to end one |
| `500` | We couldn't set the account up, and removed the login we'd started. Try again |
| `502` | We couldn't create the login. Try again |
| `503` | Test accounts are unavailable right now, and nothing was created. Try again later |
